WAITING (is definitely the hardest part)
Now we must wait until our noon appointment on Friday.
I have a stack of movies, but don't know which one I'll watch tonight
The Darjeeling Limited (EVEN LATER: I watched this one too)
Solo con tu pareja
or
The Edukators (LATER: I watched this one + it was really good)

My stomach is doing sumersaults.

CURRY SKIRT
It's snowing + I have Spring on the brain.Yesterday I found this muslin skirt at a thrift shop. I liked the shape but it was plain white + a bit boring.
What to do...what to do?
I went to the spice cabinet + decided on a curry powder dye bath. My boy came home asking what I was cooking (a skirt, darling) + the next morning the house still smells like an Indian restaurant.
For the next Book Babes meeting we are doing an artwork exchange (the following meeting we will learn a book form to bind everything) so I've been working on a new print based on a photo I found of a couple swing dancing in Austin, Tx. I don't remember if I mentioned that my boy + I have been taking swing dance lessons every Friday night for the past several months. We go with some friends + then out for dinner. It's great fun.AND the movie watching has been light. I rented Rocket Science, advertised as "From the director of Spellbound"* which pretty much sealed the deal (if you have not seen Spellbound you should). It had a slight Rushmore feel with tracks from Violent Femmes' first album on the soundtrack (classic!).
We are now in the midst of season 5 of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
*My mother sent me an e-mail pointing out that the director of Spellbound is Alfred Hitchcock. If you have not seen the Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman 1945 classic, you really should. It includes an amazing dream sequence by Salvador Dali.

INSECTS

The other day my Bloglines refreshed just as Karin Eriksson posted a shop update + I immediately dashed over to buy a porcelain pebble. Oh! I have wanted one for soooo long, but since they are so inexpensive ($6.00) they go fast. I love thinking about this object coming from this amazing studio.
I've been watching Dexter (I finished season 1 tonight) + it's inspired 2 new print ideas (neither one has to do with blood). Right now I'm playing around with ideas about printed insect specimens, perhaps originally inspired by the porcelain pebble + further inspired by something from Dexter (but I can't remember what). Funny thing is the last time I was inspired by a TV show, it also stared Michael C. Hall.
Leya @ Curious Bird is working on butterfly specimens.
Perhaps it's thoughts of Spring.

MINOR DETAILS
I finished the mustard yellow silk drop stitch scarf this weekend. I love the end results, but I have to say that it seemed like a bit of a chore to work on. I've got to move onto hats.
Yesterday morning I rolled over in bed + noticed that my boy had hung 2 nearly identical shirts on drawer pulls.I found a reproduction of the illusive couch at the Urban Outfitters site, but I must wait until we get into a new house before I start buying furniture. And speaking of a house- I don't know at what point things become "concrete" enough for me to make any announcements, but good things seem to be happening.
Tonight I finally went to see Juno + of course I loved it. Now I have to make time to drive to Nashville to see There Will Be Blood.

NEW CARD IN THE SHOP

I'm so pleased to announce a new card for the shop- it seems like it's been for-ev-ah!
As is typical for me, I got a completely random song stuck in my head that hardly anyone in my social circle has heard- Jose Feliciano's version of The Doors' Light My Fire (sorry, I could not find a better version). So what did I do with this particular earworm? Create a linocut! The actual fire image is inspired by camping trips with my boy AND our 13th anniversary is next week.
The new card is intened to be given for any occasion, or for no occasion at all...just because someone in your life really lights your fire.
GOOD FRIENDS, GOOD TIMES
This month's crafty friends get-together was held at Jenn's new(ish) house + for lunch she made veggie chili- heavy on the veggies! Ohhhh soooo gooood.
Jenn worked on some pillows refashioned from a 1970's quilt.
(Emmy award winner) Beth turned this "relates to brown" pile of scrap fabric (not to be mixed with her "relates to black" pile) into log cabin squares for her new quilt.
Here I am on the other side of the "relates to brown" pile, working on the mustard yellow drop stitch scarf I started in L.A.
Unfortunately Heather could not make it, but I'm hoping that I will be able to host the next gathering, perhaps in a new house.
I just adore my friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up this morning and watched 2 Days in Paris, a good little movie which could easily be sandwitched between Before Sunrise + Before Sunset.
I also recently watched The Ten + laughed through the entire movie.
(left) details from Jenn's very bright + cheerful house.
Here's Beth's post about the day.
HOUSES, DEXTER + TORNADOS, OH MY!
On the homefront we had a second viewing at one house, while trying to get a DIY nightmare, viewed last Sunday, out of my mind. Have you ever been in a house that made you think you were in a trailer? Unfortunately I did not take any photos.
And in the meantime I've become addicted to Dexter on DVD + listening to the soundrack from Once.
I realize that my non-posting this week worried my mother because of the deadly storms that hit Tennessee Tuesday. We are still here.
MAKING UP FOR SICK TIME
There is nothing like being sick for several days to motivate me. Well, in addition to finding something I printed in October still on the press. I did not realize that it had been so long since I produced new work.
Perhaps it was due to my fevered state + feeling like my body was on fire, but this is what I have been working on this past week. It's not exactly a Valentines card, but a year-round catch-all for anniversaries, or for just because. They'll be in my shop after they've dried (in about a week).
I had an extremely productive day yesterday, but with somewhat counter-productive results...
I stopped by my friend's yarn shop to unload 4 boxes of rug yarn + damn-it if she wasn't having a sale. I ended up buying 2 skeins + a set of circular needles for my next knitting project. I'm learning how to knit a hat, which will probably we ready for next Winter.
I went to The Goodwill to drop off 2 bags of clothes + damn-it again, it was 1/2 price day. A skirt, sweater + pair of Mary Janes later...
3 houses to see today + I think I'll get my annual Amelie viewing in tonight because I have no interest in The Super Bowl (although I do love Tom Petty + might have to tune in for the half-time show).
P.S. I've marked down the remaining White Glaze Planters in my Etsy shop.
