My reluctance to part with my Christmas money paid off when I found the running shoes I've been eying on sale at 25% off. Actually my mom directed me to the shoes + after researching the most ethically produced athletic shoes, Brooks came out near the top. Time to retire the 'ol Vasque trainers.
I previously mentioned that I don't make resolutions at the the beginning of the new year, but rather goals. One of this year's goals, also previously mentioned, is to run in my town's half marathon. Registration begins on June 1st + is marked on my calendar in RED.
For the record + for the sake of accountability, my other goals are:
- donate blood in-and-around every 56 days (platelet donations scattered in there as well).
- reign in my cheese addiction (so far so good, I have not eaten any cheese in over a week, not even on the weekend).
- be more diligent about buying food items in glass containers.
- completely disconnect the cable after s2 of Downton Abbey ends (I only have the channels that were formerly free, but have to pay for access through cable). I was going to box up the TV, but I have decided to move it into the studio + use it for watching DVDs only.
I think this is a reasonable set of goals.

you can do it! I so get the cheese thing. nice shoes.
I like the shoes...and the goals. But no goals for more fabulous prints?
We just disconnected our cable. We have apple tv and bought season 2 of Downton for $20. Way cheaper than our monthly cable bill! You could buy it on itunes and watch on your computer.
I found your blog through design sponge. : )
Susan- Sadly, inspiration hasn't struck in awhile. I have a project I'm toying with, though.
Shelly- Greetings county neighbor! I mostly stream everything through Hulu + the station websites + plug my laptop into the TV + mirror the screens. I could stream s2 of "Downton Abbey" on the PBS site + d/c Comcast earlier, but I'm just looking at a deadline + figured the end of this show was a good one. I sometimes buy iTunes season passes for shows you can't get on the web, like "Mad Men."
We're in our second year without satellite TV. I've bought DVDs of some of the series I like (Mad Men is one) which is so much cheaper. And I'm not one who needs to see the most current season so it's not too difficult for me. Plus I can sell the DVDs when I'm done.
Kudos to you on the cheese. I'm embarrassed to say that I had so much cheese on hand that I've yet to have to make that sacrifice.
Definitely a reasonable and worthwhile set of goals.
I like knowing about Brooks and their production - I wear either those or Asics and will now look into Asics' production before I decide what pair to got next. Any particular source you recommend for researching this sort of thing?
I'm all for getting rid of cable. I've never had it, so I guess I don't know what I'm missing other than the bill, but I know you'll do just fine without it.
One last thing - I smiled when I read about reigning in the cheese addiction. It's not a goal of mine exactly, but I've decided that it's high time I start eating more cheese. I've been a little crazy about not eating it for a long time, and I think it's time to slowly let it back into my life. I'll take whatever you're not eating!
